Thunfisch Brush Font

Thunfisch Brush Font, in German, means Tuna. At home, we don’t eat too much tuna, but I like serving a tuna & pasta salad. In Japan, where I often find myself, tuna is a staple protein source. It is so popular in Japan that species like the Pacific Bluefin tuna, of which 80% its consumed in Japan, are on the brink of extinction.

So, now you wonder why a Dutch typographer gives a German name to a font and talks about the dwindling population of Bluefin tuna, caused by the Japanese…

Well, ‘Thunfisch’ looks good. In Dutch, tuna is ‘Tonijn’ (a little boring) and in Japanese, Tuna is ‘Maguro’ – which is also slightly boring, so I settled for Thunfisch.

Thunfisch is a font I made with Chinese ink (tuna in Chinese is 鲔鱼) and a small brush. It comes with extensive language support and a lovely set of auto-rotating alternates!
