Simon Font Family is a revival of the typefaces by Simon de Colines, the French punchcutter and printer of the 16th century. It’s a calm and soft serif that works well in book printing as well as in historical, cultural, and fashion projects.
Styles & Optical Sizes. Simon contains 15 styles, including upright and italic styles in four optical sizes—Caption, Text, Subhead, and Display—combined into a variable version.
Character Set. The typeface supports extended Latin and extended Cyrillic. It includes small capitals, six figure styles, currency symbols, non-standard ligatures, and localized alternates for Bulgarian, Serbian, Bashkir, Chuvash, and Polish.
It features lining, old-style, tabular, proportional, superior, and inferior figures, as well as small capitals figures in the upright styles. Simon also includes case-sensitive punctuation—dashes and quotation marks automatically adjust when typing in all caps.
How to Use It. Simon is great for book printing, magazines, and poetry. The Display styles are the perfect fit for covers. All in all, the typeface is quite versatile and suits different areas, such as fashion branding, restaurant menus, or cosmetic packaging.
To maximize the use of Simon, choose the right optical size. Display and Subhead are more expressive, while Text and Caption make texts in small point sizes easier to read. The variable version of the typeface allows you to adjust the optical size to your needs.
